The therapeutic relationship is a sacred interpersonal bond built on trust. Together, we will co-create this safe space, so you can overcome any and all obstacles you may be facing in your life right now. As a psychotherapist, I approach my work using an anti-oppressive social justice lens, which enables us to come to a deeper understanding of how our environment impacts us as individuals, families, and communities, e.g., we may explore anything from the trickle down effect of workplace stress to the negative impact of mainstream media violence on children. Specific treatment modalities range from CBT and DBT to narrative therapy and trauma-focused care. While your unique story is centered in our work, I draw on my own experiences as an African American woman of color, parent of two, and poet when appropriate. For instance, my personal experience as an artist informs my understanding of anxiety's hidden complexities within this particular population.
Regardless of what is coming up for you, I use a strengths-based approach to help you access your innate human capacity towards resilience. Hunter College (MSW)

For over 25 years, I’ve found myself called to seek out and co-create communities dedicated to the work of collective healing and liberation from what’s made the dominant society, and everyone within it, so unwell. As an Afro-Latina, I know it’s past time for BIPOC to get mental healthcare that sees and deals with the many faces of our individual and collective trauma, and its undeniable impact on our health. Our work will draw from cross-cultural healing approaches not limited to traditional talk therapy.
We’ll carefully dig into your individual experience and view it through a wider, systemic lens. We will map the powerful dynamics in your life, including familial and societal trauma, internalized racism, colorism, immigration and other forms of racialized trauma. Together, we will face and care for the damage that systemic violence imposes on our relationships—with ourselves and others. Whether your struggle is with depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationships, abuse, work issues or bereavement, rest assured: There is a way forward in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Let’s begin to unearth the full capacity of your strengths so you can finally experience the relief of sustained healing and the peace of whole-self wellness.

Adulting is tough and, unfortunately, no one gives you a manual when you turn 18. So, it’s understandable if life is handing you lemons and you’re struggling to make lemonade. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance abuse, I’m here to help you turn those lemons into lemonade.
Throughout my career, I have learned that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy. I will meet you where you are in your journey of self-discovery and assist you with moving forward. There is no one way to define success when it comes to therapy. We will work together to discover what success means to you.
I have been trained in a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I received a MS in Counseling Psychology and a BA in Psychology, both from the State University at Albany.

Understanding who we are as individuals and what has led us to this point in our lives is an important part of each person’s journey. Often, we go through the motions of our daily routines without stopping to consider what we actually feel or how we want to live. Engaging in therapy allows you the space to pause in full awareness of yourself and take a breath. It is a space for witnessing yourself, for speaking your truth, for recognizing your needs and for honoring your journey up to this point. Ideally, it is a space to breathe new energy into your days in order to provide some light and ultimately, to work toward your own emotional growth and healing, whatever that means for you.
As a mixed-race woman of color, I recognize the importance of having a supportive container in which to navigate the complexities of life and relationships. I am dedicated to connecting Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrant communities and LGBTQIA+ folks to healing spaces. My style is authentic and relational, approached from a creative, holistic, and human-centered lens.
My clinical practice is informed by 10 years as a social worker in NYC public schools. I’ve worked with children, adolescents and parents/guardians as well as young adults, queer folks, and of color communities. Drawing from your strengths and goals, we will work in partnership to find concrete strategies to best support your unique needs and experiences on your personal healing journey.

“The Lotus Flower grows in the deep mud, far away from the sun. But, sooner or later, the Lotus reaches the light to share its beauty with the world.“
Therapy is a lot like the Lotus. To reach the light, we have to work in and grow from the mud.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, a traumatic situation, or just looking to have somewhere to be yourself, you have taken an incredible step in searching for a therapist at Resilience.
My work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has focused on working with individuals on their mental health and substance recovery. I have spent the last 10 years specializing in my work on safety and stabilization in trauma recovery with adults. My experience has brought me to work primarily with domestic violence survivors and criminal justice-involved individuals.
While the path to healing can be hard, we have to walk through the mud to find the light. I strive to help you find the goals that are important to you and to help you take the steps to make them become a reality. I look forward to walking this journey with you.

I strongly believe that each of us are the experts of our own experience and, simultaneously,
often faced with circumstances that obstruct our attunement to our own needs. For many
individuals (particularly those with marginalized identities), to access and honor one’s expertise
surrounding their own needs and aspirations is to begin a radical and heroic journey—one in
which therapy can serve as a transformative means of not only surviving but thriving.
Whatever the specific challenges that may have inspired you to initiate our work together, I aim
to co-create an anti-oppressive space in which you feel seen and unconditionally respected as a
whole person. To that end, I utilize a relational, person-in-environment approach grounded in
humility and genuine curiosity that incorporates your unique social and cultural contexts as well
as their interactions with the intricacies of your internal world into our exploration of what
experiences brought you to therapy and how we will move forward.
I envision my role in our forward motion as an active passenger who will tailor your therapy to
your values and preferences by continuously drawing from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based
modalities and frameworks. These will serve as the maps that promote your right to serve as a
well-informed, empowered driver in our journey towards your favorite self.

Have you ever thought there was a more authentic version of yourself? One that is just under the surface, but is held back by the things that have happened to you? Maybe you’ve glimpsed this version of yourself in the eyes of someone who truly loves you, who really “gets” you, like a grandparent, a teacher, or a friend. They see only the best in you, and bring out the best in you, too. Around them, perhaps you feel strong, confident, content. Spoiler alert: this can be you all the time!
The fact is, our upbringing, life stressors, and any trauma we’ve experienced can create layers of coping mechanisms and adaptive strategies that keep us stuck. Many times, these patterns weigh us down and keep us from living our lives authentically. The way we think about ourselves is influenced by our family, our culture, even our faith. These thoughts can become ingrained, and they are often automatically negative. When we work together, we’ll look closely at these thought processes and examine the ways that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other.
We’ll also look ahead to the life you want to be living and build up skills to reach your goals, as well as understand the strengths you already have. These skills can help you better handle life’s ups and downs, as well as build healthy relationships in all areas of your life.
I envision for all my clients a future where they feel loved and accepted, where their work is meaningful and rewarding, and where they recognize the good things in life, and know that they are meant for them. Our work will take place in a safe and unconditionally accepting space. In a world that pulls our focus in so many directions, we will focus on just you.

Given our current conditions, it is no surprise that you might be feeling stuck, isolated, confused, lonely, overwhelmed, anxious, or have trouble focusing. But, no matter what made you decide to consider therapy today–life transitions, anxieties, traumatic experiences, relationship stress, parenting, work stress–I will listen to you with compassionate curiosity and help you navigate the situations with intentionality.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over twenty years in non-profit and grassroots work with the aspiration of making systemic changes towards community safety, healing, and liberation. I’ve come to believe that systemic work must go hand-in-hand with healing at the individual level. We can change the world by changing ourselves. We can create more joy, love, and a sense of safety for ourselves and the people around us.

The trickiest part isn’t solving the issue, but recognizing the issue and identifying what your own needs are. In therapy,
I invite a nonjudgmental space to think more deeply about the patterns in your life, and work towards resolving those dynamics that are no longer serving you. During our sessions together,
I will take a person-in-environment perspective, meaning that we’ll look at not just a particular diagnosis or set of symptoms, but also at the larger systems and structures that might be impacting your life.
To this end, I take an actively anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens to my work with clients.

Societal norms today often inaccurately inform us that asking for help or being vulnerable is a sign of weakness. As a result, many of us tend to get “stuck” in dynamics that just aren't working for us. In the words of Brene Brown, “vulnerability is not weakness, it is our greatest measure of courage”. Therapy success rates are often dictated by the 'ideal client-therapist fit'. Whatever your concern is, let’s talk it through and see if we are a good fit to collaboratively work through the challenges that you are facing. No issue is insignificant enough for therapy if it is taking away from your joy and quality of living.
Although I am well-versed in addressing a myriad of issues, I have extensive history working with clients who are struggling with various addictions and with issues related to trauma(s). I embrace a relational, trauma-informed approach that gently addresses core issues so as to encourage long-lasting, positive change.
Throughout the therapy process clients should feel heard, validated, proactively motivated, and most importantly, empowered! I hope that you'll find that my services can provide this and more; offering relief and peace-of mind despite the difficulties that you are facing.

Sometimes all we need is space to pause and reflect on our needs, a moment to detangle our experiences and care for ourselves. I’m a holistic therapist that works with women to explore the roots of who they are, while supporting them to feel present and authentically themselves.

I know how difficult it can be to make the informed decision to start therapy. Even the idea of unpacking our thoughts, feelings, behaviors and emotions can feel overwhelming and intimidating. Your bravery and commitment to facing your personal hardships and improving your overall quality of life is the first of many victories that you will experience in our time
together.
Our sessions will embody curiosity, warmth, empowerment, and benevolence and be free of any judgement or stigma. Whether you are suffering with anxiety and depression, undergoing distressing life transitions, struggling with self-esteem, facing relationship issues or looking to understand your past to make sense of your present, I will collaborate with you to overcome your obstacles and pursue your goals.
Drawing from the psychodynamic and relational models, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness therapy to create a holistic, integrative approach to our work.
Having experience working in an inpatient unit with psychiatrically acute adolescents, and in private practice, providing individual psychotherapy to young adults, has solidified my commitment to providing you with an approach that is uniquely tailored to supporting your needs.

My goal as a psychotherapist is to help you live a deliberate, self-actualized, and peaceful life. We all struggle with anxiety and depression at times, we push people away when we want them close, we work against our best interest and don't know why.
I can help illuminate patterns of behaviors and beliefs that impede your ability to reach your potential. Together, we can identify those invisible forces that drive your behavior and cause stagnation, pain, broken relationships, and missed opportunities.
I take an anti-oppressive perspective and provide a space to explore the corrosive impact of external institutions and systems on our well-being.
My approach is warm, supportive, collaborative, and holistic. I draw from neuroscientific, psychological, and somatic modalities:
I use EMDR, one of the most effective ways of treating PTSD, trauma, and other adverse experiences. I practice Supportive Psychotherapy, Family Systems Therapy, CBT and DBT. I am a certified Hatha Yoga instructor and teach meditation, mindfulness, and Tapping.
Together, we will work to reignite the resilience, courage, passion, and confidence that exists inside of you.

The work I do with my clients is sometimes difficult and painful, but time and again I have seen how the benefits of the work outweigh the risks. I am always ready to encourage and join my clients in making a leap of faith from sickness into health.
I received both a Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. My professional expertise in the areas of chronic pain and substance use disorders has taken me across the country and around the world. I created and directed the Chronic Pain Recovery Center at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. As Chief of Psychology, I revitalized Eric Clapton’sCrossroads Centre in Antigua. Most recently, I created and directed Urban Recovery, a luxury treatment center based in Brooklyn, NY. I have trained clinicians around the country in the psychological treatment of chronic pain, and I am the author of Black Duck Moments Every Day, a book of daily reflections and affirmations for people with chronic conditions. In tandem with my therapy practice and writings on mindfulness and ACT.
In my free time, I love to garden, swim, and record meditative and ambient-based music which I release to all the usual streaming sites.

You are the author of your own story, and you deserve to bring that story to its fullest potential. Whether it’s unpacking your past or moving forward with your best self, we all just want to live our most authentic lives. Together we can work to understand the story that you want to tell and provide you with the tools to execute it. There will be bumps along the way, but I want to give you a judgement-free space where you can explore and gain the confidence you need to accomplish any goal you want to strive towards.
I have extensive experience in working with trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, self-discovery, academic challenges, career counseling and life transitions. I can provide an honest and empathetic perspective in a space where I want you to feel in control. It is my goal to embrace the strength and resiliency that make you who you are but also challenges you to dig deeper.
Therapy isn’t always easy work but together we will be able to navigate the story that is your life. You will get a much needed sense of camaraderie in your therapeutic journey through compassion, empathy and maybe even a little humor.
I hope we can take that next step together soon.

Perhaps you are going through a major transition, want to make a change, or have a nagging feeling you should take a closer look at neglected aspects of yourself. Maybe you just want to do and feel better.
You may feel unhappy or ambivalent about your career, studies, or relationships. You may need a place to process grief, loss, past traumas, or injustices. Perhaps you are adjusting to a new life stage or evolving identity. Whatever your sources of anxiety, anger, or sadness we can work together to help you gain the skills and self-knowledge to move forward in your life.

My primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to help you process challenges and harness your strengths. With this foundation, I layer in creative, experiential strategies that access the root of current and historical obstacles or more concrete strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). My multifaceted professional background as an actor, teacher, and entrepreneur has uniquely honed my understanding of complex human emotion, interpersonal relationships, and the role of the body in storing our personal histories.

In a world where so many expectations are placed upon us, therapy is a place where the only expectation is to show up. Otherwise, therapy is for you, and it is what you make of it. You get to decide what you want to discuss, and I am here to hold the space for you to do so. My aim is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being your most authentic self, where you can express yourself and feel your emotions freely and be met with empathy rather than judgment.
My approach to therapy is holistic, trauma-informed, and person-centered, meaning that it is personalized for each individual’s unique situation and needs, taking the whole picture into account. Through a social justice lens, I strive for my work to be as inclusive and intersectional as possible. I am happy to work with anyone who is open to the therapeutic process. When passion, humor, and creativity are incorporated into sessions, it can truly nourish the therapeutic space and thus your potential. You have the power within yourself to create positive change, and hopefully I can support you in fully realizing and accessing it.

Frederick Douglas once said, "Without struggle there can be no progress.” Where we are now as a society and what we are dealing with is a struggle. As individuals and/or a group, we’re experiencing stress like never before. The daily roles we perform takes an immense toll on our minds, bodies and souls. Or, maybe this experience has forced you to focus on yourself in a way you never have before? Let me meet you where you’re at in this moment. Whether you are a caregiver to challenging times to unemployment, etc., let me be your guide and together we can explore your past and/or current issues in your struggle, towards the future, you envision for yourself.
While I am versed in helping a client change his/her negative thought patterns or beliefs, I also use other treatments which helps the client with adjusting to difficulties or life transitions. I focus on solutions appropriate for you the client, concentrating on your awareness, and dealing with managing your stress. I believe in creating a “safe space” which nurtures the client-therapist relationship, and leads you towards empowerment and growth. I believe in meeting you where you’re at based on your needs, history and experiences. Working together we can get you closer to your ideal self. A self, you envision without hesitation and fear, but with hope.

In short, I help people who feel stuck. I collaborate with patients who care greatly about the work they do but struggle to complete tasks, driven but blocked by depression, anxiety, or perfectionism. I am directive, focused, and assign tasks outside of sessions in order to institute real life change because once therapy ends, that’s where the real work will continue to be done – at the end of the day, change will be shaped by you taking charge. Change starts with yourself.

A wise individual once shared with me that one cannot reach the depths of their greatnesses, without first exploring the depths of their suffering. Whatever you may be feeling in this moment, remember that you are a multifaceted and complex individual, changing with every new experience and emotion each day. Navigating life hasn’t been an easy task, and perhaps, the decision to search for a therapist has convinced you that you may even be failing at it.
In this therapeutic space, you are never a failure. The step to first begin is a powerful one. I’m devoted to providing you the environment, empathy, and support you need to better understand the circumstances that may be preventing you from living a more positive, cohesive life. I consider my style to be relational, holistic, and client-centered. I’m trained in couples counseling, as well as the Ackerman Relational Approach: a model which analyzes interpersonal connections through a multi-cultural lens. I frequently utilize mindfulness techniques and narrative therapy as we learn and embrace the many overlapping identities that exist within you. I look forward to being your anchor in this new journey to healthier wellbeing.

There are times in our lives where we experience obstacles, frustrations and difficulties that take too much our well-being to process. I offer a safe, compassionate and engaging environment where we can work together to help you reach your goals.
I have been in clinical practice for over 30 years. My approach is integrative, humanistic and exploratory. My expertise includes trauma/PTSD, addictions, couples therapy, depression, anxiety and personality disorders. I have been utilizing EMDR for over 25 years. A large part of my practice has been devoted to treating trauma victims. In addition to EMDR, I use exploratory therapy, hypnotherapy, DBT, and CBT.
I also have extensive training and experience with treating all types of substance use disorders and
addictions.
I was a music major in college and performed professionally prior to starting my therapy practice. The disciplines I’ve gained from training and playing music has brought insight into treating patients who struggle with commitment obstacles and performance anxiety.
During the early stages of my practice, I was a baseball coach for 17 years. This stemmed from my passion of being a baseball player throughout my youth, college and adult years. The tools I’ve gained from the years of playing and coaching has helped me to have a deep sensitivity to the issues of performance anxiety and injury recovery. This has given me the opportunity to treat many athletes in my practice.

Making the choice to begin a therapeutic practice is a radical act of self-love and community care.
As a therapist, my role is to create a collaborative and affirming space to support you in meeting your goals; always approaching our work together with humility and curiosity. My therapeutic style is client-centered, strengths-based and grounded primarily in psychodynamic and emotionally-focused frameworks. These frameworks integrate the value of your individual history, emotional processes, and the inherent strengths and autonomy of you as a human being. Taking part in deep therapeutic work has the power to transform how we see and care for ourselves, move through the world, and engage in relationships with others.
My experience prior to becoming a therapist has been primarily in social justice and advocacy work with survivors of intimate partner violence, as well as with asylum-seekers and refugees who have been displaced as a result of violence and oppression. As a therapist, this experience informs my understanding of the impacts of larger societal systems on individual mental health and well-being.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-esteem issues, relational challenges, abuse or life transitions, you are deserving of a space for healing and care.

Let’s prioritize your wants, needs and desires. Therapy is a space where you get to receive the attention you may have not been gifting yourself. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, battling depression or self-esteem related issues, LGBTQPIA+ challenges or any other stressors life creates, I am certain we can collaboratively work together towards a living that is self-serving and on your terms. My approach to therapy is led with compassion, empathy and conducive self-exploration, which will then give you the opportunity to explore the full range of your experience, which includes feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and your own unique worldview. By being congruent, accepting, and empathic, clients can look forward to a positive change.
My diverse and integrative method to therapy will address the individual and unique challenges that brought you here in the first place. This means, I pull from a variety of evidence-based practices such as, but not limited to CBT, Reality Therapy, SFT, Motivational Interviewing and more. Furthermore, I am exceptionally skilled in a person-centered approach to therapy, where I aim for clients to achieve a greater degree of independence, integration and self-actualization.
It is my hope when working together, we not only give attention to your challenges, but also prioritize your growth process. As a result, you can better cope with arising problems as they surface. Our work together will focus on your openness, trusting yourself, internal evaluations, and a willingness to continue growing as the unique human being that you are.

Are you seeking relief for anxiety, social discomfort or panic with long-term results?
My responsive approach is a mixture of actionable techniques using evidence-based practices such as Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Therapy with a psychodynamic foundation. That means learning about what your feelings and reactions mean to you and identifying recurring themes in relationships. We are masters at avoiding things that make us uncomfortable but by examining why and what we avoid or naturally gravitate towards, we become free and strong.
I was an entrepreneur in NYC for 12 years before my clinical training which lends me distinctive understanding of the struggle to balance career with life. Whether it's a therapist, counselor, or coach you seek, working with an experienced clinician is a worthwhile investment to help you move forward.
I run a dynamic practice. We will work with you to find the right fit within your budget with or without insurance.

The language of therapy has become ubiquitous in our culture. While the therapist in me appreciates this development, particularly if it is accompanied by a destigmatizing of mental health care, I understand some of the skepticism some might feel regarding therapy in general. For example, it is worth asking: How is it that our society seems increasingly alienated and atomized, even as
acknowledgment of trauma and ideas pertaining to emotional healing gain prominence in our discourse? Given all of this focus on self-care and wellness, why does it seem like so many of us feel
more alone and lost than ever?
Certainly, this dynamic is in part due to larger structural forces that shape our lives in ways both obvious and imperceptible. But rest assured, therapy absolutely can be a force for good, so long as we never lose sight of the paramountcy of human connection and avoid retreating into narcissism.
My approach to therapy is integrative, with an emphasis on relational work and psychodynamic principles and application. It is also rooted in the idea that we are, in part, socially constructed
individuals, even at the cognitive level. I offer a warm, non-judgmental, and non-authoritarian space where we will identify the feelings and assumptions that generate the self-defeating patterns preventing you from experiencing joy and fulfillment in your life.
So many of us desire to feel more connected, less anxious, and less alienated, but we simply do not know how to achieve this reality. This is especially true for some of us who have experienced
attachment disruptions, or even more severe forms of trauma. Or, perhaps we see a path forward, but that path vanishes suddenly without warning and is replaced by malaise and renewed uncertainty, or, even worse, despair. Our work together will focus on developing that path in such a way where it will endure even in the face of adversity and the intrusion of the past into the present.

Imagine giving me a tour of your house. On the journey I may ask questions and wonder with you about why certain patterns and styles are present, and together we may consider what and how things may differ if they were altered. I will never push my way through doors you have closed, it is your house after all, but we may stand beside those doors and reflect on what it may take or mean to open them.
This is a visual I use to describe my collaborative approach to therapy, one in which we combine my knowledge and clinical expertise with your understanding and experience of being you. I invite you to bring your full and complete self into the therapeutic space as we work together to explore the beliefs/experiences/patterns that have shaped your identity and functioning, including what it means to live in a racialized society. By adopting an integrative framework, I draw on a wide range of clinical theory, research, and evidence-based treatments to help you deepen insight and garner practical strategies for addressing the challenges and demands that you face.

I seek to offer a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space, which inspires all to be comfortable and confident in their uninhibited self expression. To speak freely, reflect upon thoughts, emotions and troubles openly and to engage in a profound process of healing that is both restorative and informative. Whether addressing historical trauma, working through current challenges or exploring new possibilities, I look forward to providing support and encouragement as you work towards your goals.
Person centered care is the foundation of my clinical philosophy. Therefore the establishment of a therapeutic bond based on trust, respect and mutual understanding is essential. During treatment we will collectively identify and analyze issue areas, then design a unique and personal plan of care that involves evidence based psychoanalytic methods to encourage holistic healing and lasting results.
I am available to work with individuals, couples, groups and families on a wide range of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and anger management, substance use and adjustment difficulties. I specialize in the utilization of psychodynamic theory which features modalities that include: CBT, Solution-focused therapy, Interpersonal therapy, Mindfulness practices, Narrative therapy and Holistic therapy.
In 2018, I graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a B.A in Social Work and Departmental Honors. In 2019, as a 291 Foundation Scholar I received an MSW from New York University, with a focus on clinical treatment and psychoanalytic theory.

Maybe this is your first therapy experience, maybe it is not, but each relationship is unique and that can lead to surprises – both exciting and difficult. Therapy is hard; because what we do to protect ourselves – or our loved ones – is not always serving us, because what feels good is not always what is best for us, because our minds are in constant conflict between safety and growth. Western society is full of duality. Finding a way to hold safety and growth in one space is my job while you explore the dualities in yourself and break them down into a cohesive whole. I once had a supervisor who would tell her clients that we are each “whole-ass people who have lived whole-ass lives;” it is shocking how easy it is to forget that. The work we do together will not always leave you feeling good at the end – it is work after all – but it will help ease your suffering and help you to live a fuller, more fulfilling life full of meaning.

Therapy gets to be a space that’s about and for you, where we can collaboratively work
toward a better understanding of why and how you are the way you are, identify and
break out of patterns, foster your strengths, and develop a new way of relating to
emotional experience.
My approach prioritizes a balance of concrete interventions to address the present
distress alongside thoughtful exploration of a client’s past, their current context, and the
many layers of their identity in order to better understand what might be underlying the
current pain so we can get to the root of it to make lasting change.
My style is warm, intuitive, relational, and individualized to who you are and what you
need. I work primarily from a psychodynamic lens but draw from a number of modalities,
including mindfulness and CBT. I strive to work from an anti-oppressive framework,
understanding your experience in the broader context of systems of power and
oppression.
I understand the power of the stories we tell about ourselves and the stories other
people tell about us. I help clients find and tell their stories in ways that work for them,
including integrating the painful parts into their larger narrative. I see this as a deeply
healing act that can help you make sense of who you are and what you’ve experienced.

My approach to therapy has been influenced by a diverse array of radical mental health practitioners, organizers, and activists. I highly value personal identity, intersectionality, and human relationships as fundamental to my therapeutic work, and aim for my practice to be a destigmatizing and collaborative space. Namely, I integrate a harm reduction and strengths-based approach to mental health which presumes that all people are doing their best to survive.
Beyond my formal training in play therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Structural Family Therapy, my practice is widely informed by disability justice movements, radical peer support communities, and transformative justice/community accountability models. I am also passionate about using techniques drawn from somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, and liberation health. In terms of mental health diagnoses, I am happy to center a traditional diagnostic framework as much or as little as you like, offering space for workshopping, critiquing, and rejecting diagnoses along the way. You are the expert on your own life and I will honor your needs throughout the therapeutic process.

In a complex and stressful world, it’s important to carry peace and focus into your life. Whether it is dealing with anxiety or trying to find yourself, learning practical skills to build your self-esteem and manage stress can make you a better friend, better partner, and a better you. I began my own journey into counseling after seeing it work for myself. I have worked with college students, young men, and adolescents with whom I have witnessed the benefits of good therapy. Building mindfulness through meditation & CBT, putting words to emotions, and talking through past struggles and trauma are some of the methods I use to address clients. I strive not only to build trust and safety in our relationship, but to push you to be the best person you can be.

Taking the first step can be challenging, yet you just did it. Pause for a moment to feel the pride of making this decision for yourself. You are in a safe place. There is strength in seeking help when needed. You recognize the need because of challenges and traumas you may have experienced in the past or currently. These events are preventing you from experiencing the fulfilling life that you want.
I use an eclectic approach to techniques that are tailored to your needs. Together we can explore how your thoughts of past and current events in your life may be influencing your emotions and behavior. Then we can work collaboratively on changing patterns of thinking that prevent you from being the person you would like to be. I will create a welcoming environment free of judgment as we work together to accomplish your goals.
My desire to help people prompted me to follow my passion and make a career change after years in corporate sales. I obtained my master's degree in social work with a clinical emphasis.
I will be there alongside you as you begin to write a new chapter in your life. It is never too late to make a change.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship can serve as a healing space. I prioritize building person-centered partnerships that allow all individuals to feel safe throughout their clinical experience. I am very invested in cultivating meaningful relationships centered around trust, openness, and honesty. I find in my practice that this allows for each individual child, teenager, or adult I work with to feel grounded in their own narrative as well as feel self-empowered to utilize the tools they gain throughout our work together.
As a therapist who specializes in the micro, mezzo, and macro implications of trauma, I utilize narrative and relational interventions to support the individual in establishing clear therapeutic goals. My practices are always inclusive of an anti-oppressive framework that ensures each individual's autonomy in their own healing process.
In my practice, we will use our time together to support the unpacking and dismantling of barriers to allow for positive and healthy relationships with ourselves and others. Through a trauma-responsive lens, we will compassionately get to the root of challenging patterns and support you in your process and ultimately to feel like your most authentic self.

As I listen to you, I’m kind and supportive. I’m real and fully present. I’m connecting to all your body senses. Not everyone is in tune with their emotions and body, so I come prepared for a range of clients: from the overwhelmed to the disconnected, from the dismissive to the overly concerned.
I have been working with childhood and adult trauma clients who experience anxiety, depression, and dissociative symptoms that have come to interfere with daily functioning. I incorporate talk therapy with mindfulness, and body-centered approaches to help soothe and regulate an overactive nervous system and build resources and resilience to face life’s challenges. Some of those body-based modalities include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and SE (Somatic Experiencing).
The best part of work is empowering you, witnessing your progress and guiding you to navigate life challenges. Seeing you make a difference, regardless of how small it is, is very fulfilling. I’m fortunate to spend my life doing something I love.

My treatment modality is person centered; therapy should be tailored to a person's needs, as no two individuals are alike. I employ a variety of approaches, theories and techniques, in an eclectic and flexible manner. I have extensive experience in treating Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Relationship Issues, Career Problems, Self-Esteem Issues, Substance Abuse and Trauma.
I work to create an environment that is open and non-judgmental. Looking at each person as a unique individual, helping to identify their values, goals, and changes they want to make where they feel satisfied, productive and in control. I provide short-term and long-term psychotherapy.

What if you could learn to honor and express your pain without suffering through it or
allowing it to control you? The most significant truth of our lifetime is that pain is inevitable and often uncontrollable, but suffering is a choice based on how we process, cope, and react to life’s challenges. I specialize in working with diverse populations, supporting young adults and
adults who experience anxiety and stress, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions and
low self-esteem.
Passionate about fusing traditional psychotherapy with an integrative and holistic
approach, I offer an opportunity to connect mind, body and soul. I aim to uniquely tailor therapy
sessions to each client’s needs by utilizing a variety of techniques, incorporating both Western and
Eastern healing modalities. Generally, I work to help my clients broaden their awareness, challenge
problematic patterns, learn healthy coping skills, live authentically, and seek their unique version of
joy. Above all, I believe that the strongest therapeutic relationships are built from trust, respect,
transparency, empathy and equality, and I always counsel from a nonjudgmental place of
understanding and compassion. With the right guidance and support, you can learn to free your
mind, and, in doing so, free your life.

My professional work is focused on both children's mental health and supporting adults as they process their own childhood trauma. I have in-depth experience with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, navigating the school systems in NYC (for parents and young learners), emerging adulthood, and loss/grief.
I work with my clients in a relational and experiential way to collaboratively become in touch with their intrinsic capacities to heal and to co-create purposeful and satisfying patterns in their lives.
Though humans have defenses, shame and maladaptive coping strategies, I believe we also have innate abilities to rewire pathways to heal and grow.
I believe psychological well-being is promoted during therapy when we slow down and pay attention to the vital messages of our bodies. The phrase “survival of the nurtured” coined by Dr. Louis Cozolino, highlights how the search for the right therapist is a courageous and purposeful act. As a Native New Yorker, I am committed to working with clients as they nourish their capacities for a high quality presence and cooperate with life’s inevitable challenges in such a demanding landscape.

I strongly believe that all people are capable to bring about positive change in their lives. I take an action-oriented approach using Rogerian therapy and CBT interventions to enhance self-awareness, expression, and acceptance. The aim of my practice is to establish a foundation based on trust and understanding so we can collaboratively build a suitable space to face challenges while maintaining a sharp distinction between feelings, thoughts, actions, and the roles that they may fill.
I have worked with a diverse group of clientele in the form of individual, couples, families, and group counseling. I have experience treating anxiety disorders, depression, relationship issues, career problems, self-esteem issues/assertiveness, sexual challenges, anger management, substance use, and trauma. I believe that each client is the expert on their own life and it's my job to find them the right tools. In my practice the most important task I undertake is empowering my clients. Work, relationships, mental health issues and life in general are extremely difficult to cope with and above all, people need to hear that their feelings about these areas are real. After all, this is what guides people to what's most important in life. In order to do this I provide a trusting, non-judgmental, and empathetic therapeutic relationship.
I have specialized training and expertise in working with: trans, nonbinary and LGBTQ+ adults; people who engage in kink/BDSM, poly/non-monogamy. In terms of diagnoses, I treat those with difficult life experiences, trauma, family/relationship conflicts, anxiety, depression, substance use issues, low self-esteem and anger issues.
Being trans, queer, kinky, having trauma or mental health issues often means being told you're unlovable or inconvenient; in response, I recognize my clients' strengths and humanity. While I cannot radically change my clients' lives, I teach skills to manage symptoms and navigate identity, oppression and recovery.

In today's society, we are often expected to have everything figured out and put our best selves forward. Sometimes we just need a space to be our full unfiltered selves where we do not have to know the answer. As a therapist who specializes in anxiety, depression and life transitions, I have a trauma-informed, narrative approach that also incorporates mindfulness practices. I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgemental space in order for you to openly share your thoughts and feelings. I believe this space will provide a foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship centered around trust and healing.
I practice through a person-centered, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist framework. I come from a perspective of recognizing how systems of oppression and power impact every individual. My practices are always inclusive of supporting the individual in identifying their needs and therapeutic goals.
Through our work together, we will get to the root of any barriers you are experiencing in hopes of feeling relief and equipped with strategies to navigate future challenges.

Therapy is an ongoing process of curiosity that takes a willingness to be vulnerable, and this vulnerability is a choice and a strength. In choosing therapy, you are showing your own strength. I have working experience in trauma, substance abuse, and domestic violence and sexual assault as well as anxiety and life transitions. Therapy is a collaborative experience where I adapt evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, mindfulness and distress tolerance, strength and compassion focused therapeutic techniques, along with supportive listening and even humor at times to the obstacles you might be facing. My clinical knowledge, combined with your expertise on your own experiences and self, creates a relationship where you have the space to intentionally explore yourself and learn to live from a place of authenticity and trust when life has gotten in the way.
I approach therapy as an ongoing exploration of unknown territory similar to a road trip. You are in the driver seat as the expert of your own experience and I am paying attention to the journey you are on, offering navigational support through therapeutic exercises and exploring the places you choose to stop along the way in collaboration with you to determine the significance of them and what meaning they hold. You are the one in charge of dictating where we land and where we are going. I will never take control of the wheel or be a backseat driver on your trip. I may ask questions about why certain patterns, core beliefs, and emotions are present, inquire about why you are choosing these locations or stops on your voyage, and seek insight from the intersectional context you exist within. Together we can work to interpret these patterns and the meaning behind them. In my experience, therapy can help you come home to yourself after these long journeys.

Hello and nice to "meet you"! I'm very glad you could stumble upon my page. I know that oftentimes simply living can be a struggle, and I am here to hopefully help. My goal is to help my clients through these struggles. Rather than telling them what to do or how to navigate their struggles, I hope to give my clients the tools they need in order to do this on their own, independently. More than anything, what I want my clients to take away from our sessions is feeling that they have developed awareness over how to make the healthy and right decisions for themselves and thus the power over their own lives and their happiness.
My therapeutic approach includes allowing my clients to explore current and past experiences and how they are affected by them. I encourage my clients to speak at their own pace and according to their comfort level to ensure a warm and non judgmental space for them to express themselves. My focus is typically Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Existential.
I know that finding the right therapist can be difficult. I hope that I can help make this process a little easier whether it be working together or helping you find someone who is a better fit for your needs.

I believe that therapy is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and exploration. If you’re looking to learn more about your past, present, or how you can pursue your future, therapy can be a great place to begin or continue that journey. Whether you’re feeling lost, frustrated, or just not sure where to start, this is a space where you can become more aware of what you’re capable of. Together, I hope to help you learn more about yourself, which involves identifying patterns of thinking and feeling that you’ve developed over the course of your life. With an eye on the past to identify how you got to where you are today, we can better understand the present and how it can be changed for a better future.
Joey’s approach to therapy stems from humanistic and psychoanalytical theories. He takes clients through conversations about their past and current ways of navigating the world and encourages introspection about how past experiences inform the present. He is a person-centered, integrative therapist who draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and existential therapy in his work with clients. He is passionate about providing trauma-informed care for those who’ve previously experienced traumatic or adverse events.
Joey earned his Master’s degree from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychotherapy at Yeshiva University. His goal is to collaborate with his clients to take the necessary steps towards self-improvement, beginning with self-exploration and then building up psychological tools to handle life’s stressors.

I believe that the client-therapist relationship is the foundation of therapy, a partnership through which we not only process our current experiences but also uncover repetitive patterns that may have been with us for decades. In my work, I tailor treatment to the uniqueness of the individual, with an emphasis on psychodynamic, humanistic, and CBT approaches. While increasing self-awareness and insight is important, so is developing practical tools to deal with in-the-moment problems as they occur.

Congratulations, you have taken the first step in cutting through the chaos of pandemic life by seeking support, and consciously or not, have expressed hope that things can get better. As your therapist, I will accompany you through the work ahead, understanding that what you’re doing is hard. I have helped many people move from simply surviving the day-to-day to living a fulfilling and authentic life, one which reflects their core values.
Our work together will begin with what has brought you to seek help today. Many patients are experiencing stress in the very areas (work, home, school) which had in the past been their bedrocks of stability, all upended by COVID. As a result, you may be experiencing anxiety, depression or panic attacks for the first time. We will sift through today’s challenges and establish goals for recovery to measure our progress. The work may include journaling or other reflection-oriented activities and mindfulness exercises to ground you during times of stress. If you’re ready to get beyond the friction and pain, I welcome you to a safe, judgement-free zone for that journey together.

Between work, school, parenting, general life obligations, and now, a global pandemic, life can be stressful and overwhelming. Friends and family are all going through their own stressors, and it can be easy to feel unseen, unheard, and invalidated. You deserve a safe space to feel supported where you can speak freely, be validated, process your thoughts and trauma, and grow toward the person you want to be. Therapy is just that place, and I’m so glad you have taken the first step of your healing journey by reading this page.

No one should have to suffer in isolation. You do not have to be alone when navigating difficult experiences in the present or processing distressing experiences from the past. I invite you to a non-judgmental, supportive and trauma-informed space to explore the root causes of your distress.
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults experiencing mood disorders, substance use, trauma, psychosis, co-occurring disorders and criminal legal involvement. My background is in providing advocacy and psychotherapy to individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use issues and who have frequent movement across the behavioral health care, housing and criminal legal systems. I ground my work in an anti-oppressive social justice framework that honors the ways in which oppressive systems impact mental health and relationships.
I utilize various interventions, most commonly narrative, psychoanalytic theory, motivational interviewing, harm reduction and mindfulness techniques. Together we will examine what coping skills have and have not worked for you in the past, build upon your innate strengths and incorporate new skills that offer relief. Throughout this entire process, I will be alongside you offering empathy, support and hopefully some humor as we examine pain, patterns and potential.

Greetings, Whole Being of Love:
I offer a heart healing path approach to therapy, wherein the client is their own healer, and I am their guide. This approach affirms that the healing journey or path is not the process of rewriting oneself as whole, but, rather, it is the process of uncovering the wholeness that one already is.
“Therapy” is a sacred space. In this space, I partner with individuals in developing healing practices, tools, and strategies that weave together celebration, curiosity, experience, reflection, awareness, journaling, visualization, creativity, exploration, and soul expression; these are used to help the healer open to their inner guidance, speak from their authentic voice, experience their personal truths, and allow their souls to sing their stories fully and uninhibitedly.
By hearing their heart’s truths and sharing their soul’s expressions, the healer begins to release emotional charges and bonds to past pain in a way that allows them to experience their wholeness.
The heart healing path approach invites the healer to use both intuition and intellect to expose, explore, and shift limiting and suppressing ways of journeying through life. Through their own exploration, the healer is guided in the process of identifying and harnessing their power of choice, so that they may begin to walk in their authenticity and proactively create the lived experiences that they want to have.
All are welcomed!
In celebration of the Love that you are,

If you are seeking a therapist, you are taking the first important step towards self-empowerment. Maybe you’re feeling pain, stress, frustration, or hopelessness. You’re tired of pretending to be happy and prioritizing work or other people over yourself. Or maybe your family is unaccepting of who you are. Life is dynamic and can be complicated. In therapy, I will help you adapt resiliently to challenges, explore yourself, and meet your goals. In the therapy room, you are the driver and we will go at your pace.
I utilize an eclectic, integrative, person-centered approach and tailor treatment based on your individual needs. In a world filled with xenophobia, I strive to honor your individuality and self-expression. I emphasize empowerment, collaboration and honesty. My clients describe me as nurturing, empathetic, nonjudgmental, and sincere.
I received my master’s degree from Columbia University and have received training in cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, exposure and response prevention, and biofeedback. Using a strengths-based approach, I hope to create a safe environment for us to speak freely and inspire change.

Hello! I am happy you are here. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and stuck. At times, these feelings may affect your work, relationships, and self-esteem. It's possible that you do not know why you feel this way, but you would like to learn more about how your mind works. You want to find purpose, understand your past and your relationships, and learn how to navigate your world better. You would like to be: a more confident, more relaxed, happier version of yourself.
My name is Lauren and I am an insight-based therapist. I have experience in these areas and I will help you learn about yourself. Together, we will explore your thoughts and feelings. We will unravel the root cause of what is making you feel stuck, identify triggers, and find new ways to cope. It is through this process of self-discovery and personal growth -- of untangling who you are from how you got here -- that you will learn what works best for you and how to feel your version of better. I look forward to hearing about you soon!

Have you lost hope in being able to enjoy life? I understand feeling hopeless. I am here to help instill hope, to remind you of your strengths and potential. My clients are smart, creative, and compassionate.
Despite that, many have trouble with feeling worthless – feeling like everything they do is wrong; feeling disconnected; feeling misunderstood and unheard, feeling alone and uncared for – often due to growing up in invalidating environments where love feels conditional.
You may be looking to learn how to manage anxiety and overwhelming emotions to feel free to do…whatever! Our painful emotions, thoughts, and experiences tell us information, but they don’t have to define us. As a therapist, I have significant experience and training in working with children, teens, and adults facing these challenges.
I have years of experience working in acute inpatient psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital, as well as in longer-term outpatient treatments. I have trained through NYU and Bellevue hospital in DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic modalities.
Together, we can build insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to give you the power to change. It is possible to change – the changes may be small at first and hard to see, but over time I hope you will have new tangible tools, a new sense of freedom and empowerment, self-compassion, and a stronger connection to yourself.
My therapeutic approach is warm, authentic, non-judgmental, supportive, curious, and collaborative. I value the dignity and worth of all people, above all else. You are in charge. This is your space, your time. I am here to collaborate with you in a safe environment.

I work with adults who are coping with major life transitions, workplace burnout, healthcare worker compassion fatigue, asylum and immigration related stressors, social adjustment, family or relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and existential concerns.
My treatment approach involves helping people understand and work through the above challenges, while helping them access their unique strengths. My practice is largely informed by psychodynamic theory, although I incorporate a variety of modalities to include mindfulness,
strengths based and cognitive behavioral interventions. I provide care through an empathic, culturally sensitive, collaborative, and holistic lens, and therefore tailor my approach to an individual’s needs. I understand that mental health does not exist in a vacuum and that understanding oneself also involves awareness of larger systems of oppression and their impacts.
I have post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and years of direct practice as a clinical social worker & psychotherapist in various healthcare and human rights clinics as well as in my own private practice.
I view therapy as a space for emotional expression & self-reflection that can lead towards deeper self-understanding, esteem, and autonomy.

Leora Mandel
Therapist
I am a psychotherapist and creative arts counselor who specializes in helping adults and
adolescents who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, romantic attachment, restful sleep,
questions of identity, artistic/career blocks, chronic illness, and life transitions. I have extensive
experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault and within the
LGBTQ+ and kink communities. I adapt evidence-based psychodynamic therapy techniques for
individual needs, including CBT, DBT, psychoanalysis, mindfulness and distress tolerance skills,
and arts therapies. I strive to create a compassionate environment rooted in trust, warmth, and
collaboration.
It is important to me that you feel understood and accepted as you are. I believe there are reasons
for every decision we make, for instance people revisit maladaptive coping mechanisms (ie:
returning to exes, avoiding tasks) because they work at providing temporary relief from
something. Even in your darkest moments you love yourself enough to want to stop yourself
from experiencing levels of pain that you find intolerable. Together we can access this
compassion for yourself and use it to establish healthy patterns, build confidence, and let go of
heavy regrets and self-judgements.
Diagnoses isn’t a necessary component of every treatment, but many of the clients I work with
find that it can be an opportunity for relief, healing, community, and validation. Diagnosis is a
tool that helps to identify practices that others with similar ways of experiencing the world have
found instrumental in improving their quality of life. I am a firm believer that anything we can be
made to feel “other” about means that we are also somewhere a part of a powerful “us”.
I have afternoon and evening appointments available to work with your schedule.
In her free time, Leora enjoys poetry, sci-fi/fantasy, writing and performing music, and planning
elaborate picnics.

These have been tough times. Tough years. With the seismic changes we’ve experienced, you may recognize that now is the time to work with a professional. We can help you make changes to live a happier and more peaceful life, to understand what brought you here and how you can create what you want going forward.
I have been a practicing psychotherapist for fifty years. Over those years, I have experienced ups and downs in my life and career but what I most cherish is all that I have learned from these experiences. Resilience is the key to managing the challenges we face – both internally and externally.
I work psycho-dynamically with all ages and also have specific training in working with Eating Disorders and trauma from a feminist psychological perspective –looking at not only the individual challenges, but seeing how society and our culture affect our feelings about ourselves – a holistic approach.
I’ve also spent much of my professional life starting and running nonprofit organizations. I’ve worked in a variety of settings over the years, with a diverse group of individuals. Most recently, I have been engaged in work focusing on women and aging: looking at the intersection of ageism and sexism.
Learning and growing never end. I work with clients as young as 10 and as old as 80.
I look forward to meeting you.

"Be true to yourself”. I’m curious about what that phrase means to you and what is impeding your ability to live authentically. Perhaps you must untangle the past to move forward and flourish in the present. Or, explore who you are now to determine who you want to become in the future. No matter what brings you here specifically, my ultimate goal is to help you parse these queries and connect to your core self. While I specialize in trauma-focused therapies (e.g., EMDR), I have an extensive research background and draw from additional evidence-based practices to mitigate pain and embolden vitality.

Our work together in therapy is to identify what separates us from fulfillment and to find tools
to deconstruct those barriers. As a clinician, I collaboratively identify a person’s inherent
strengths, empowering them to enact positive changes within themselves and their
relationships. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed.
Curiosity, compassion, and humor enable a safe and engaging atmosphere in which to do
individualized work. Integrating various therapeutic modalities will allow our sessions to best
suit you and your needs.
I have worked in the U.S. and abroad with people of all ages and experiences including, but not
limited to, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, substance use, and personal and inherited trauma.
My worldview has been further shaped by my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer and member of

Each of us has become who we are by way of our life experiences. Reflecting and offering insight along the way, my hope is to support you as you get to know yourself more deeply and develop tools to enhance your wellbeing. I believe some days we need direct, honest feedback and other days we need a compassionate, tender listener. It is my intention to adapt to your needs as they shift while cultivating a space where you can share without fear of judgement.
I approach therapy through a trauma-informed, strengths-based and identity affirming lens. Drawing from relational and psychodynamic theories, I incorporate tools from cognitive behavioral, somatic, and family systems therapies. Considering social, emotional, psychological and cultural dynamics, I work from an actively anti-racist and anti-opressive framework. I offer my services in both English and Spanish.
Starting therapy can be a daunting yet highly rewarding experience. I believe that with vulnerability and curiosity, our lives can become more enriched, connected and grounded. I am committed to supporting you through this process with a warm and collaborative spirit.

As Gabor Mate says: “Safety is not the absence of threat, it is the presence of connection”.
What does it feel like when you have the greatest feeling of belonging and safety? I believe in providing a strong sense of connection during my therapy sessions, creating a safe space and the ideal environment for you to get attuned with your most authentic self.
Whether you are experiencing trauma or need emotional support for life stressors; I will collaborate with you to
understand your life situation. I will help you explore the different dimensions of your identity and how are they playing a role in your current situation.
I enjoy helping humans to see their value beyond any oppressive identity and I can help you navigate social systems from a liberation perspective. I integrate different modalities to explore thoughts patterns and behaviors, using a person-centered approach and meeting her clients where they are. Some of these modalities are Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness.
These modalities are used taking into consideration each
client’s cultural background and personal preferences. My hope for you is that you can feel seen and empowered, I invite you to come as you are and together start this journey of creating a life worth living.

It is empowering to feel heard, understood and validated, to be recognized as a well-intentioned person, family member and member of your community. I view therapy as a process in which a person explores their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and relationships. In this process they find both characteristics of resilience and strength as well as unwanted or ineffective patterns that have developed over their lifetime. When guided by a well-trained, ethical and compassionate therapist what is learned can be applied to today's problems.
Generally, my style is to allow you the time to safely talk through, vent, identify problems or negative patterns, build on your strengths and address things you may be ashamed about. I've received extensive training in multiple areas and topics involving mental health, human development and human services. I'd say that my training in DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and MET has primarily informed my work.

I am a strong advocate for all of my clients, and especially hope to serve those who may face
marginalization in society and in mental health care, specifically fat people, LGBTQ+ people,
and survivors of trauma. I believe that you are an expert in your own experience and seek to
learn from and with you during our time together.
My therapeutic style brings together a diverse set of therapeutic knowledge and tools in order to
uniquely meet your needs. While much of my training is psychodynamic in approach, I also have
experience in DBT, compassion-based mindfulness, and art therapy. Recognizing that many of
the things that trouble us as individuals are rooted in and connected to broader issues in our
society, I also integrate the teachings of social justice practitioners in my practice.
The journey to reach a happier place is often one with many twists and turns along the way, but I
will be right there with you as we move forward together.

learn from and with you during our time together.

What would life feel like if we genuinely accepted ourselves for exactly who we are? Without shame, judgement, or bias? It can be so difficult to engage in self love.
Through working with me I hope to help you see yourself authentically and holistically. We will do this by working in a safe, non-judgemental, space to better understand your experiences, your triggers, and their impact on you.
I have significant experience in helping people manage anxiety, depression, questions of identity, and interpersonal conflict. I hope to help you better understand yourself and in turn, love yourself.

My approach to therapy is relational and psychodynamic, rooted in the belief that with proper support, we can transform pain into positive change. Many of us numb or avoid our feelings as a means of getting through the day. While this is a natural response to trauma or chronic stress, over time the numbing of pain leads to the numbing of pleasure.
I believe that being able to feel our feelings is essential to the experience of living a full life. In our work together, I will use practical tools and help you learn skills to stay grounded in your body and in touch with your feelings, so that you can live with purpose, joy, and meaningful connection.
I am distinctly passionate about helping people form secure relationships by focusing on communication and self-esteem issues. While my therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic, I also have training in various evidence-based modalities, such as CBT, AEDP, and mindfulness.
I have historically worked with diverse populations, such as survivors of intimate partner violence and youth impacted by parental incarceration. I have recently begun to work more closely with LGBTQIA+ youth and feel particularly well suited to help LGBTQIA+ of all ages navigate the stress of coming out and other challenges.

My goal as a therapist is to foster a space where every part of you feels warmly invited
to participate in the process of healing and self-understanding. Whether you are seeking help
for anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, professional hurdles, or creative
blocks, I believe a key ingredient to long-term change is the chance to be experienced fully
without the familiar fear of judgment. This means I welcome, with compassion and gentle
curiosity, the aspects of you that feel buried, objectionable, or even unacceptable, perhaps due
to social stigma or fear of being rejected. While I work with a range of clients, I have extensive
experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population, people working in the arts, individuals
experiencing suicidal ideation, and adult only children.

I became a therapist to help people realize their true capabilities in the midst of adversity. I want to normalize the idea of therapy and mobilize people, especially from a Black/African-American/Latinx background, to seek help sooner rather than later. Real growth starts when you are fed up with the nonsense and want to make moves. Let us work together to dig at the source of the suffering or pervasive unsatisfactoriness. The goal is to develop and strengthen a bravery to be able to relate to and sit within the uneasy feelings so that we are no longer afraid or controlled by it. This approach allows us to regain our power. You are the expert of your life and I work collaboratively with you to achieve your goals and serve as a catalyst to mental wellness. So give yourself permission to engage in the healing process and to commit to inner peace, self-love, and gratitude. #breathedeeply #livedeeply

It takes courage to tell your story and to be vulnerable and introspective, but “a problem shared is a problem halved.” You may be faced with a variety of challenges in life that are preventing you from being happy, fulfilling your potential or causing you pain. Relationships, family, career, health or any life transition can cause us to question our path in life. We will work towards the best solution for your life and your future.
Mental health cannot be separated from physical health, and I believe a holistic approach that incorporates good nutrition and exercise enhances talk therapy. A sense of humor is also invaluable in creating perspective and easing the load we are carrying. With that in mind, I look forward to working with you to reinvigorate your enthusiasm for life and replace stress and anxiety with optimism for the future.

We are all drawn to therapy for a variety of reasons, such as navigating life’s transitions and exploring our interpersonal relationships further. I am a social worker and psychotherapist who aims to co-create a space with you for growth and healing.
Larger systems impact the ways in which we think, feel, and act. Our social identities inform how we experience the world - and how the world perceives us. Together, I hope to understand your concerns, validate your struggles, and highlight your strengths. With a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach, I frame clients as the experts of their lived experiences.
I tailor my practice to your needs by combining my training in different modalities to increase your self-awareness and help you live a life according to your values. I invite you to schedule a free phone consultation.

Welcome! I am eager to learn what is going on in your life right now that is bringing you to therapy. Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety around life transitions such as a new job or a recent move, or you are feeling impacted by past experiences and traumas that are affecting you today. Together we will explore whatever is bringing you distress and identify methods to better understand and cope with your feelings.
I have experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship dissatisfaction, and existential concerns in various private practice settings. I use therapeutic techniques that can help you better manage your anxious thoughts, explore your value and belief system, and draw links from your past into your current patterns of thought and behavior. You will be met with compassion, curiosity, and humor from our first point of contact. Most importantly, I will tailor my approach to whatever feels best for you.
Your comfort and safety are the utmost priorities throughout this journey. At the foundation of my work, I operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive lens and acknowledge how systems impact marginalized identities and communities. I understand that creating change takes time and I will honor your timeline and readiness. I deeply value the work I do as a therapist and I would be honored to connect.

Sometimes it is difficult to adjust to or make sense of what is happening in your life and how you feel. It is often moments or seasons of change that make us feel alone, overwhelmed, or numb to trauma and chronic stress, but these can be transformed into positive change.
My goal is to help you gain a better understanding of yourself in a nonjudgmental and trauma informed space. Together we will explore thought patterns, beliefs, and habits that influence how you feel, and social and cultural dynamics that shape your experience. Throughout this process I aim to empower you and help you build coping skills to better manage the external and internal stress you experience on a daily basis.
As a Columbia graduate I have worked with adults and children in schools, non-profits, courts and shelters, in North America and abroad. I take an integrative, relational, and holistic approach to therapy, utilizing tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Internal Family Systems, and drawing from mindfulness and attachment theory.
It can be scary to start, but I am eager to meet you. I truly believe that therapy can provide the support you need to bring inner peace and to revitalize areas you feel stuck or empty in.

Even the idea of therapy can be intimidating. Taking the time to interrogate our thoughts, feelings, behaviors and relationships in order to improve the quality of our lived experience is a process requiring personal bravery and commitment. It is this bravery and commitment that I strive to honor by creating a therapy space that allows you to be your whole, authentic self without the fear of judgement or stigma. Doing so requires an understanding that every individual seeking therapeutic services is unique and valuable. You are the expert on your own life. I believe that the ability to be heard, seen, and accepted fully is an integral part of long-term healing and change.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety and depression, grappling with a life transition, or open to exploring your past and its relationship to your present, I will collaborate with you to identify specific goals and guide the therapy space in the direction that best supports your needs.
This could include therapies such as trauma-informed CBT, mindfulness exercises, or other evidence-based approaches depending on our mutual assessment of your needs. While I have worked with a varied group of clients, I possess extensive experience working with adolescents, children and families having worked in several NYC schools in social work capacities as well as an AmeriCorps educator. I look forward to serving as a source of support on your journey

Let's be real, looking for a therapist can be hard. Or maybe it's just annoying. There's a million pictures, a million bios, and a sea of jargon some of which you've maybe never even heard of. I like to be transparent and authentic, and that's reflected in my practice. If I'm not authentic, how can I expect you to be?
My style of therapy is warm and engaging with a strong focus on checking in about what’s working in your therapy and what’s not, and tailoring it accordingly. I very much value your voice as the one that matters the most in the room. I like to invite conflict and difficult emotions in, when we’re ready, and resolve them in a way that feels safer and works a little better for your life. Some weeks that means sitting with a difficult emotion, other weeks that means finding concrete strategies to tackle the struggles in your life, and everything in between. I know growth is hard. My job is to help that journey not feel so hard or lonely.
My formative training was forged while working with profoundly psychiatrically acute children, teens, families, and young adults at the Henry Ittleson Center for Child Research and Development, a residential and outpatient setting. People inherently urn for spaces where they feel accepted and safe, and my experience has allowed me to find ways of creating that in even to most difficult circumstances.
I honed my skills of assessment and intervention with children, teens, families, and young adults. Working with some of the most challenging and difficult clients has refined and informed my clinical skillset utilizing trauma-focused, DBT, CBT, psychodynamic, narrative, harm reduction and solution-focused approaches. I hold additional experience treating couples, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and adults struggling with substance use.
I hope we get to meet!

Seeking therapy is not an easy step, but you are taking the first step to make meaningful change.
Life can be stressful, painful, and frustrating. I am here to help relieve some of that frustration and pain by creating a warm and support space for you to be your true self. My approach to therapy is to help you understand your thoughts and behavior through a new lens, unraveling the root of your difficulties, in a space that is non-judgmental.
I am eclectic in my work and have adapted a very holistic approach. I believe that each client is
unique; with that, so is their treatment plan. I am very relational in my work as I see people as social beings, with a lot of issues stemming from interpersonal struggles. I see the therapy space as a microcosm of the real world and I will share noticeable patterns with you, dynamics I pick up in the therapy room and help you see how this maybe playing out in the “real world”.
Through our work together you will gain insight, learn how to deal in a more adaptive way to your struggles and become more in touch with your thoughts and feelings.

For many of us, at one time or another in our journey, we reflect on our lives and begin to ask questions like "Why have I not become what only I can become?" We discover that we have obstacles, beliefs and other burdens that have stood in our way. I seek to help clients accept reality as it is, to be themselves and to enjoy being themselves. Internal harmony is essential to human happiness. In sessions, clients discover the totality of their personhood, come to appreciate being alive, to thrive rather than to simply survive. This is done by helping the client truly makes space for their inner self and live a life that is in accord with oneself, to live authentically. This requires careful and sustained reflection while also learning practical skills to handle life. On this foundation, one can turn to the outside world and build a healthy network of relationships, find meaning in one's life and hope for the future while becoming comfortable in the present. I am an associate in training with the Institute of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis in Vienna.

Finding the right therapist to meet your needs can be a difficult task. Everyone does not experience mental health the same way. My 15-years of clinical experience has taught me that therapeutic services must be individualized based on personal experiences with mental health. Rather than associating personal identity to a mental health diagnosis, allow me to help you understand how mental health challenges present as an experience you can overcome through mutual support and exploration. I work to develop a healthy connection that fosters growth through respect and collaboration while working to identify strengths to create new stories of the past, current, and future.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor, I have dedicated my research and practice to understand how mental health is impacted by many factors – both internal and external. Maintaining an awareness of the diverse backgrounds of individuals presents as an integral component to my professional philosophy. While the work accomplished within sessions will assist in your personal development, the work you do outside of sessions is equally significant in your growth process. Let’s work together to identify the best course of action based on your lifestyle to create a healthier future.

I come at therapy with a holistic, person-centered, integrative approach. I combine evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), with Existential Therapy. My background is in working with LGBQ+ and TGNCNB clients (including folks on the aromantic and asexual spectrums), and parents of LGBTQ+ individuals. I also have a background working with clients diagnosed with eating disorders at higher levels of care (partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient), and people with comorbid diagnoses (often an eating disorder with PTSD, etc.) My practice is informed by anti-oppression, fat liberation, HAES (Health at Every Size), and anti-racism.

Asking for help can be a tremendously difficult task and you have already taken a great step in your own healing process. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, existential questions, or other obstacles life might throw your way, we can define what therapy should look and feel like for you.
Therapy starts by building a meaningful therapeutic relationship founded on respect, trust, and acceptance so we can explore your strengths and challenges together. This means I am committed to providing a space each session where you feel you can process and express yourself freely without fear of judgment.
My approach to therapy is client-centered and exploratory which may include CBT and mindfulness exercises as tools to improve self-awareness and grounding in the present moment. Examining the relationship between your thoughts, emotions and behavioral patterns will help guide our work together in order to cultivate healing and change. I hope to join you in building a shared vision of restorative growth and a sense of belonging and connectedness in the world.

Beginning therapy is a brave and beautiful step. My goal as a therapist is to help my patients utilize their existing internal strengths to navigate difficulties in their lives in ways that promote self-compassion, acceptance, and positive change. My clients have diverse lived experiences and backgrounds. As such, I approach my practice with an intersectional perspective, understanding there is no “one size fits all” approach for successful therapy. I enjoy working with a diverse group of patients and have particular interests in depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, relationship issues, and low self-esteem. The relationships that are borne from therapy are all unique and valuable. I strive to provide a safe space where my clients can reach the vulnerability necessary to heal from emotional pain and ultimately achieve their best self.

I view therapy as a collaborative process, and from the beginning of our time together we’ll work in tandem to co-construct goals, explore challenges, tap into your intuition and deepest self-knowledge, and embrace self-compassion to uncover your strengths and reconnect with your most authentic self. My background in both performing arts and social justice initiatives informs how I connect with clients, bringing forth elements of self-awareness, authenticity, vulnerability, creativity, and even humor into each session.
I specialize in working with individuals, especially adolescents and young adults, to navigate the challenges of depression, anxiety, life transitions, trauma, disordered eating, and dating/relationships, with a particular passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ community.
I practice from an anti-oppressive, liberation-based, trauma-informed framework and seek to honor each person’s different lived experience by cultivating an environment of empathy, non-judgement, and compassionate curiosity so that clients may leave each session feeling appreciated, heard, and deeply understood.
Rachel received her B.A. in Psychology, Human Development, & Conflict Resolution from Brandeis University, and her MSW from New York University. Rachel is a Licensed Master of Social Work.

The following questions are common:
Why can’t I sleep?
Why don’t I feel like myself?
Why do I feel numb and depressed?
The isolation is taking a toll on me!
I cannot deal with my kids right now!
How do I deal with discrimination, oppression, microaggressions, marginalization, racism at work or school, etc.?
The feelings and symptoms you are experiencing may be about your body and mind trying to adjust to difficult and stressful life experiences. These circumstances heavily impact your ability to stay positive and focus on work or school due to your feeling. Especially with everything that’s going on in our world right now. Well, that is understandable because we are dealing with something in our society that we’ve never dealt with before or something we have been dealing with for a long time now. It is having a negative domino effect on your mind, body, and soul. You feel completely thrown off balance from your life traditions. However, it is important to remember that there is hope.
My approach as a therapist is a constant theme that runs through all social work practices. This means I have an eclectic theoretical (mix bag) approach that uses a systems framework to assess a variety of points for intervention. For example, I practice the strength perspective. With this practice, I identify clients’ strengths and then build on their strengths to empower the client. Along with reviewing the client’s ecological perspective, which means identifying your life transactions and environmental pressures (work, family, relationships). Using CBT helps me identify your unhelpful thoughts, patterns, and behavior and alter them to work towards your goals.
I want you to remember there is peace in life, however, there will be challenges! As your therapist, we will work together to achieve your goals and help you get through your life challenges. Please remember as your therapist I want you to know with me you are in a safe space and a judge Free-zone!

As a therapist, my approach is open, gentle, and non-judgmental. I see you as an expert in your own experience and a valuable partner in our process together. I focus on creating a safe space for clients to freely express and explore their thoughts, feelings, and patterns, while feeling heard, seen, and accepted. I help clients to identify their own internal coping skills and strengths to facilitate growth and healing.

Wherever you are in your life’s journey, you don’t have to go through it alone. It can be
challenging to understand why we are going through a difficulty in our life, but more
importantly, it can be difficult to identify our own needs during these times. As a trained Art
Therapist, I utilize talk therapy along with creative self-expression. I work from an
intersectional and social justice framework, and as a female therapist of color I am committed
to validating personal experiences and intersections of identity including race, ethnicity, and
gender. It is my hope to help you connect to your inner self, to find and discover creative
resources within you to help you cope and authentically express yourself.
As an Art Therapist, I offer a therapeutic practice which utilizes art, including various
materials and art forms, to help express what cannot always be said with words. This does not
require any artistic skill or background, just curiosity and a willingness to explore your
emotions through creativity. It is important to me to provide a safe and non-judgmental space
for you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your healing journey. I am here to support you along your path of self-discovery and well-being.

Life can present myriad difficulties. We may be navigating individual challenges--life transitions, unstable relationships, loneliness, confusion, or career stress. We may also be troubled by the challenges we face collectively, like systemic injustice, our rapidly shifting world, and climate change. A trusted therapist can provide a space for us to express ourselves and can support us through the process of healing.
I welcome adolescents and adults who are experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, mood instability, and trauma. I approach my work with compassion and warmth, along with deep respect for each individual's experience and identities.
I primarily use relational and psychodynamic modalities. This means I place an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, and collaborate with my clients to identify, explore, and change relationship and behavior patterns. I believe a therapist can be a "friendly mirror," gently guiding us to see and accept all parts of ourselves. This can be a meaningful process that leads to lasting healing, growth, and change. I invite you to schedule a consultation.

“People say that what we're all seeking is a meaning for life. ... I think that what we're really seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences will have resonances with our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” – Joseph Campbell
Have you ever had the thought: “If only I could just stop [fill in the blank] my life would be so much better”? Well, I want to tell you that you are right! Whether you struggle with chronic anxiety or depression, drinking, overeating, toxic relationships, negative thought patterns, low self-esteem, addictive/compulsive behaviors, or any number of self-destructive mental habits that keep you from becoming the fullest expression of your true self you already have an intuitive knowing that this is not who you really are. I am here to help people uncover, discover, and discard the
mental habits that keep them feeling ‘stuck.’ It has been my experience that once we are able to put down behaviors and thought patterns that no longer serve us, we become free to find out who we truly are and live life to the fullest and fully experience what Joseph Campbell refers to as the rapture of being alive.
My approach to therapy is first and foremost holistic; merging the best of traditional and evidence-based clinical psychotherapy with philosophy and neuroscience. This includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) where we will focus on the present, as well as dynamic approaches where we will explore elements of your past that contributed to who you are today. My practice is eclectic and often includes such methods as “Tapping” or EFT; Internal Family Systems; The Sedona Method; Narrative Therapy; and Behavioral approaches.
My clients are individuals and couples that seek practical tools for living that will increase their capacity to use healthy and adaptive coping skills to address major life challenges, increase insight, and improve communication.
I received my master’s degree from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work with a focus on Mental Health and Human Sexuality. I specialize in working with couples, adults, and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction/recovery, issues related to sexuality, relationship issues, family conflict, lifetransitions, career confusion, and loss.

Success begins with the decision to try. Pursing therapy provides a safe environment to explore passions, work past your fears, and balance your life. It takes courage and strength but leads to a satisfying life. I specialize in working with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, challenging family dynamics and addiction. I especially love working with individuals dealing with self-esteem challenges, gender identity and life transitions. Every client is treated with respect, compassion and warmth. My approach is using cognitive behavioral and strength-based modalities to treat various mental health conditions. I have experience working with individuals dealing with addiction in a harm reduction facility. This included addressing trauma, understanding triggers and safety planning. As a structural family therapist, I address family dynamics, communication skills, trauma, structural patterns and creating a unified family. Creating a safe and judgment-free space is crucial. Mental health is not something that can be solved overnight. I truly believe with time, patience and support individuals can become vulnerable enough to be their true selves in a therapeutic environment leading to a successful and fulfilling life.

I know personally the courage it takes, along with research and planning, to take the steps to seek out therapy/counseling/healing. Whatever weight you are carrying on your back, whatever is sitting deep in your heart, or whatever obstacles are blocking your way, in this space, we will explore your inner most self in a deep, profound way, explore all nuances of your feelings to another, and you will receive nonjudgmental acceptance. The human psyche and interpersonal relationships are profoundly complex for any one person to try to navigate alone. But Resilience has brought you this far, and within you, you have what Irvin Yalom calls “an inbuilt propensity toward self-realization.” My hope is to support you through this process in developing a life full of meaning.
My approach is to remain flexible and use a mix of different evidence-based therapy modalities according to your needs. I have spent over a decade working to support culturally diverse New Yorkers in schools, family courts, correctional facilities, and nonprofits as a Program Coordinator, Case Planner and Program Director.

You are the author of your own story. You have the right and ability to make yourself the protagonist. So often, we find ourselves falling into patterns that don’t make us feel inspired or energized. I am passionate about engendering clients to become their most authentic beautiful selves, without the hindrance of the weight of the past. My goal is to arrive with you at a place of deep understanding and revelation. I engage my clients chiefly through psychodynamic therapy, using attachment figures as an anchor of relational patterns, while integrating narrative therapy and CBT into my treatment as clients seek out more tangible ways to make changes in their lives. Together, we will work together to confront the source of those patterns, learn new ways of engaging with the world, and rewrite your story.

My job is to collaborate with you to help you uncover what is getting in your way, so you can live your authentic true self. With an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed approach to therapy, I am dedicated to providing you with a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel empowered.
I am eclectic in my approach to treatment because I believe it’s crucial to not stick to one type of modality. It’s important to meet you, the client, where you’re at, and work with you to see what you need, given where you are in your life. Not every person responds well to one certain modality, and at the same time, I find it’s important to stay inquisitive to provide a different and more unique perspective. My background is with working with teens and adults from diverse populations and I use a combination of techniques from modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, stress-reduction, and motivational interviewing. Ultimately, I want to help you build a life you define as worth living.
“It is hard to be happy without a life worth living…Of course, all lives are worth living in reality. No life is not worth living. But what is important is that you experience your life as worth living—one that is satisfying, and one that brings happiness.” -Marsha Linehan

What makes for a meaningful life? There are as many answers as there are individuals in the world, and yet it can be difficult to say. Maybe we're not sure of what it is that we want, or maybe we do know but are conflicted about it.
I support my patients by providing an interactive and nonjudgmental atmosphere in which we can explore the problematic areas of your life with a strengths and evidence-based, solution-focused approach, intended to promote personal growth and a deeper sense of satisfaction with yourself.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent years working as a theater director. Both of these roles involve helping someone cultivate a narrative. The major difference with therapy is that we are working to get the patient to tell their own story with their own voice – and even rewriting the script along the way, as necessary.
I believe in the effectiveness of psychodynamic therapy because whatever our “here and now” symptoms may be (ie: anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy), they are almost invariably rooted in early life “then and there” experiences. Until we understand the roles that we have been playing, and casting others in along the way, how can we ever expect the story to play out differently?
MSW – Columbia University (Currently in post-graduate psychoanalytic training at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy)
